Kompass Community
Are you a (former) student at the ´ºÉ«Ö±²¥ and would you like to accompany refugee students participating in the Compass UniBE program through the preparation year? Would you like to meet new people, exchange ideas, and broaden your horizons?
Kompass Community is a place for exchange and networking, enabling you to make new contacts, broaden your horizons, and create shared experiences. With your experience as a student at the ´ºÉ«Ö±²¥, you will support Compass participants by answering questions about everyday university life and share your tips and tricks about studying.
In Kompass Community, you will take part in 2-3 meetings per semester together with the Compass participants. These are low-threshold, informal meetings that you can help shape with your ideas and wishes (game night, language café, potluck, movie night, hike, etc.).
In March, there is an official networking meeting between current Kompass Community participants and alumni, organized by Compass UniBE in collaboration with the Student Union of the ´ºÉ«Ö±²¥ (SUB).
What awaits you
- Valuable experiences in intercultural exchange and interesting encounters
- Insights into difficulties and challenges that refugee students face in Switzerland
- Broadening your knowledge on topics related to refugees, integration and education
- The opportunity to help organize events
- A confirmation of your voluntary commitment
What we expect from you
- Ideally commitment for one year
- Interest in intercultural exchange
- Ideally already advanced studies (at least 1-2 years of study experience)
- Time to participate in the meetings
- Participation in all meetings and events (= prerequisite for confirmation of voluntary commitment)
- Encounter on equal terms
You can have your voluntary commitment with Kompass Community recognized with a certificate of participation at the end of the project year. If you wish, you can also have your commitment as a volunteer documented in your Diploma Supplement. To do this, you should have taken part in all Kompass Community events.
